Karen A. Miller is the Founder and Managing Partner of Athena Global Investors. She is the architect of the firm's investment strategy and serves as Chief Investment Officer. Ms. Miller is a veteran of buy side Wall Street research.
Prior to forming Athena Global Investors in 2009, she was a Senior Vice President and Director of Capital Guardian Trust Company, a subsidiary of the Capital Group Companies. At Capital, Ms. Miller was a portfolio manager responsible for global, U.S. equity, U.S. value, and U.S. small cap portfolios for institutional clients. She joined Capital in 1990 as a U.S. banking analyst and later added coverage of the food manufacturers and REIT industries.
In recognition of her analytical work, Ms. Miller was cited by the Reuters Survey and Institutional Investor as one of the best on the buy side. Throughout her career, she has been a frequent speaker and advisor to company management and boards of directors.
Prior to joining Capital, she worked at Fidelity Investments. Ms. Miller earned an MBA in finance from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a master's degree in international economics from Columbia School of International Affairs. She also earned an AB in government and Russian literature from Smith College where she was a First Group Scholar. Ms. Miller is active in several investment management organizations, including 100 Women in Hedge Funds.
